The holder of this position will be responsible for general office cleaning duties as well as preparing / serving refreshments to staff and guests and assisting staff with ad hoc requests.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure there is adequate stock of cleaning and refreshment requirements and report the requirement list to the receptionist
  • Responsible for the safe and neat storage of cleaning materials, away from food and beverage supplies.
  • Notify the Office Manager of breakages to crockery or equipment as they occur, or maintenance required on equipment used.
  • Assist the receptionist by answering calls and greeting guests when she is unavailable
  • Assist staff with general duties, such as making copies or transferring of documents from one office to another etc.
  • Assist the Office Manager / Events coordinator, where required and as instructed, with the set up and cleaning of company events or functions
  • Boardrooms periodically checked and cleaned / neatened
  • Waste baskets in offices regularly emptied and cleaned out
  • Regular vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of floor areas within the office
  • Dishes, trays, kitchen surfaces kept clean and hygienic at all times
  • Appliances – vacuum, fridge, microwave etc – kept clean and functional
  • Offices cleaned regularly – vacuumed, surface areas wiped clean, scuff marks on walls etc.
  • Interior of windows, doors, white boards cleaned periodically
  • Well presented at all times; drinks not served in chipped glasses or cups, clean trays etc.
  • Dressed presentably and neat
  • Quick to ask guests if they would like refreshments and correctly and timeously serve such
  • Assist staff with their refreshment requirements

Required Experience

  • Minimum one-year experience in a related or similar role
  • Have the knowledge and know-how to operate and care for various pieces of equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, fridge, microwave etc.
