CR Cabinet shuffle – both good and bad

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) welcomes the merging of Telecommunications and Postal Services with Communications, however, we are deeply disappointed with appointment of Nomvula Mokonyane as Minister of Environmental Affairs.

Under Mokonyane, the Department of Water and Sanitation suffered greatly as her poor leadership and corrupt dealings brought the department into disrepute. In addition, OUTA hoped that President Cyril Ramaphosa would shed Bathabile Dlamini who is equally corrupt and is infamous for her grossly negligent handling of the payment of social grants.

“The splitting of the Ministries under Jacob Zuma was foolish and a waste of public funds. By streamlining Cabinet, the President is undoing the rot brought on by the previous administration. However, we are concerned that President Ramaphosa is still walking on eggshells as he protects Zuma-aligned Ministers such as Mokonyane and Dlamini,” says Wayne Duvenage, OUTA CEO.

OUTA is a proudly South African civil action organisation, that is purely crowd funded. Our work is supported by ordinary citizens who are passionate about holding government accountable and ensuring our taxes are used to the benefit of all South Africans.
