OUTA submits evidence on Eskom and Home Affairs to Zondo

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has delivered yet another set of explosive findings to the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.

The latest submissions contain evidence of Gupta involvement at Eskom and the Department of Home Affairs.

Over the past year, OUTA has raised several concerns and laid criminal complaints against former Eskom executive Matshela Koko as well as Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba.

This submission builds on OUTA’s 2017 report to Parliament, No Room to Hide: A President Caught in the Act. OUTA’s state capture submissions aim to outline how appointees under former President Jacob Zuma’s leadership manipulated policies and entities in the interests of themselves or the Guptas, rather than in the interests of the country.

In OUTA’s submission, the organisation shows how Eskom helped the Gupta’s to obtain the Optimum Coal Mine and paid huge amounts to Gupta affiliated companies without legal contracts.

While the Guptas entered the country long before Gigaba became Minister of Home Affairs, emails from the Gupta leaks and testimonies during parliament’s inquiry into the department have revealed how Minister Gigaba expedited their applications and how public officials  assisted the Gupta’s with visas and work permits.
