OUTA welcomes Lynne Brown’s resignation


The former Minister of Public Enterprises resigned as a member of Parliament effective 27 February 2018.

“This resignation has been a long time coming. Brown failed in her duties as the Minister of Public Enterprises and compromised government by not scrutinizing information provided to her by the Eskom board and for violating the executive ethics code,” says OUTA’s CEO, Wayne Duvenage.

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has made several calls for the Brown to be fired over the past year. These recommendation were finally heard by the Public Prosecutor, who last week, advised President Ramaphosa to take action against Brown within 14 days.

“While we were relieved to see Brown removed from her ministerial position during this week’s cabinet reshuffle, the damage caused by her inefficiency during her tenure has had significant impact on State Owned Enterprise’s (SEO's) which will be felt for some time,” added.
