Support South Africa's lockdown – OUTA
OUTA fully supports the nationwide lockdown announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
This is a time for the whole country to unite and support the drastic measures required to curb the coronavirus contagion (see the President’s announcement here).
“The extent and speed of the measures we take today will ease our pain tomorrow,” says Wayne Duvenage, OUTA’s CEO.
We welcome the measures taken to protect the poor and vulnerable, and those whose livelihoods are at risk, through the various stimulus initiatives and measures taken by the Government to protect the economy and business fallout. The additional efforts by the NPA and police to curb corruption at this time are essential and we trust this will lead to lasting efforts beyond the pandemic.
We urge South Africans to support those they can and, if possible, to contribute to the national Solidarity Fund set up by the government to tackle issues directly related to curbing the Covid-19 contagion.
We reiterate the call to remain calm and refrain from panic.
OUTA has already moved its entire 48-person workforce to a work-from-home arrangement. This includes our switchboard and all external communication platforms which continue to operate.
