WATCH: HOW TO DISSOLVE A MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

If you are tired of the chaos in your municipality, there’s hope. When service delivery faltered, the residents of Makhanda in the Eastern Cape decided to approach the court to intervene. In a groundbreaking verdict, the court ordered that the municipal council should be dissolved. In this webinar, we'll hear firsthand from those at the forefront of this transformative journey.

Philip Machanick, Emeritus Professor at Rhodes University, provides valuable insights into the legal and procedural aspects. Lungile Mxube, representing the Makana Citizens Front, shares the community's perspective and the grassroots efforts that drove change. Legal expert Brin Brody from Wheeldon, Rushmere & Cole Attorneys sheds light on the legal strategies employed. Hosted by Julia Fish from OUTA’s JoburgCAN initiative.

This is part of OUTA's #CAN Co-governance series of webinars. Last month Julia chatted to two community champions who shared inspiring stories and useful tips to ensure service delivery in their communities. Though we learnt there are no silver bullets, it was a great discussion on turning active citizenry into real delivery. If you missed it, watch it here.
