DRIVING LICENCE: MASSIVE CORRUPTION UNDERLINES NEED FOR NEW SYSTEM 

 

Corruption, chaos, fake licences, officials and opportunists ripping off the public: this is Gauteng’s driving licence system. This doesn’t surprise the OUTA team, as we have been inundated with complaints about corruption and inefficiencies at Gauteng driving licence test centres (DLTCs). We have raised the issue more than once with government, including with the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula.

In OUTA’s view there are only two things to do: extend the current licence validity period from 5 to 10 years (see here) something we have been suggesting for two years now, and clean up the corrupt system.
