OUTA appealed to Parliament to ensure enough funding for the Independent Electoral Commission, since a lack of funding willmay have a negative effect on the 2024 elections which will see the first national and provincial elections with independent candidates. It is very concerning that the IEC had funding cuts of around R770 million over 3 years, especially considering political parties getting an extra R300 million in March this year from government.
