Free State laptop scandal: OUTA provides more reasons to investigate Magashule
The noise might have died down, but that doesn’t mean OUTA forgot. This was OUTA’s message to former Free State premier Ace Magashule this week when we submitted a section 27 application to the NPA to investigate the ordering of 277 laptops by his office in 2014 from Gupta owned Sahara Computers.
Not only is it unclear if any laptops were delivered after paying the Guptas a whopping R4,578 million, but the procurement of the laptops was probably irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure since the Public Finance Management Act was ignored. Read the full story here.
