Gupta leaks: The gift that keeps on giving

The Gupta leaks continue to expose the corrupt relationship between the Guptas and key individuals responsible for the rampant state capture over the last decade.

Earlier today the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) published some of the names and hotel booking confirmations of guests who stayed at the infamous Oberoi Hotel in Dubai, courtesy of the Gupta family. The booking confirmations found in the leaked Gupta emails include hotel stays for former Communications Minister - Ayanda Dlodlo, former Denel Board Chairman - Daniel Mantsha, former Finance Minister - David (Des) Van Rooyen, former Eskom CEO - Matshela Koko as well as Transnet heavy weights Anoj Singh and Siyabonga Gama.

Last year, Dlodlo was found in breach of MP’s ethics code after she failed to disclose her stay at the Oberoi in December 2015. Although the Gupta leaks show that Mr Fana Hlongwane paid for her stay at the Oberoi, there is clear evidence that the Guptas arranged the booking and consulted with Duduzane Zuma regarding the type of suite they were able to book for her.
