Help OUTA lobby for inquiry into Public Protector

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) intends petitioning Parliament to remove and replace the Public Protector.

OUTA's petition will include a report to Parliament outlining why we believe that Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane is incompetent and should not hold the office of Public Protector. OUTA calls for Parliament to set up an inquiry into Advocate Mkhwebane and remove her.

OUTA has started a public petition to Parliament in support of our call for this inquiry. We call on our supporters and the public to show their support for our call by signing our petition. The petition will form part of our submission.

The more signatures we collect, the stronger our message to Parliament.

The deadline for signing our petition is Wednesday 29 May.

In terms of the Constitution, the Public Protector may be removed from office on the grounds of misconduct, incapacity or incompetence, following a finding to that effect by a committee of the National Assembly and a vote in favour of removal by at least two-thirds of the MPs.

OUTA’s report to Parliament refers to two recent court judgments which raised questions about Mkhwebane’s competence.
