OUTA is advising residential solar users not to rush into registering their systems with Eskom or municipalities. Recent threats of penalties and disconnections are premature, inconsistent and legally questionable.

Registration frameworks must be fair, practical and aligned across authorities. Until that happens, households should not be forced into costly compliance under threat.
