KARPOWERSHIP DEAL TORPEDOED
After years of public pressure and environmental objections, government has officially rejected the Karpowership proposal. This R218-billion deal would have locked South Africa into a 20-year contract with floating Turkish power ships, with minimal benefit to the grid and huge cost to taxpayers.
This win belongs to everyone who stood up, spoke out, and backed civil society efforts to fight this reckless deal.
