ETHEKWINI AND COJ MUNICIPALITIES URGED TO STOP NEGLECTING WATERWAYS OR FACE CHARGES

 

WaterCAN and Durban-based non-profit Adopt-a-River have issued a warning to the eThekwini Municipality, urging them to take action on dangerously high levels of E-coli found in the Umbilo River. Sample results are alarming, and WaterCAN has threatened that the city officials' neglect of waterways could result in criminal charges. But that's not all, as WaterCAN is also considering pressing charges against Johannesburg's municipal manager for polluting the Klein Jukskei and failing to take action on the wastewater treatment works.
