ACCOUNTABILITY CANNOT STOP WITH ONE DISMISSAL

 

The dismissal of Minister Thembi Tolashe has raised an important question: will this become a genuine shift toward accountability, or simply another isolated political moment?


OUTA says consequence management cannot remain selective.


South Africans have watched repeated governance failures unfold across multiple departments and institutions, often with little meaningful accountability. Public frustration grows when consequences appear inconsistent or politically convenient.


If government is serious about rebuilding public trust, accountability must apply broadly, fairly and consistently, regardless of position or political affiliation.


This moment should not close the conversation. It should widen it.
