HOW TEMBISA HOSPITAL WAS REPURPOSED FOR LOOTING 

 

The SIU has revealed how Tembisa Hospital was turned into a looting machine. Between 2018 and 2021, syndicates linked to 207 service providers stole at least R2.043 billion through fraudulent contracts and complicit officials in both the hospital and the Gauteng Department of Health.


Spending on “goods and services” exploded from 33% to 75% of the hospital’s budget, while patients were left without proper equipment, medicines, or staff. OUTA is demanding urgent prosecutions, suspension of all implicated officials, and a full audit of Gauteng’s 37 public hospitals.
